Fire Alarm Systems and Detection

Fire alarm systems and detection warns people when smoke, fire, carbon monoxide or other fire-related emergencies are detected. These alarms may be activated automatically from smoke detectors, and heat detectors or may also be activated via manual fire alarm activation devices such as manual call points or pull stations. Alarms can be either motorized bells or wall mountable sounders or horns. They can also be speaker strobes which sound an alarm, followed by a voice evacuation message which warns people inside the building not to use the elevators. Commercial Kitchen Hood Systems

Commercial Kitchen Hoods are protected from grease fires with a kitchen hood system. Activated by a heat link that reaches a certain temperature and activates a wet chemical based fire system or by a manual pull station activating the same system. Each hood is designed differently depending on the kitchen appliance used and the hazard it could cause. These are pre-designed systems installed by certified professionals. Fire Extinguishers

An active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency situations. It is not intended for use on an out-of-control fire, such as one which has reached the ceiling, endangers the user (i.e., no escape route, smoke, explosion hazard, etc.), or otherwise requires the expertise of a fire department. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent that can be discharged to extinguish a fire. Backflow Prevention Devices

A backflow prevention device is used to protect potable water supplies from contamination or pollution due to backflow. Backflow means the undesirable reversal of flow of a liquid, gas, or suspended solid into the potable water supply; a backflow preventer is designed to keep this from happening. Points at which a potable water system connects with a non-potable water system are called cross connections. Such connections occur naturally in appliances such as clothes washers and dishwashers, but they must be carefully designed and installed to prevent backflow. Another common location for a backflow preventer is the connection of a fire sprinkler system to a water main, to prevent pressurized water from flowing from the fire suppression system into the public water supply.
